Car Insurance Infiniti (Car Insurance). Are Alpine DD Linear Speakers good? Are Alpine DD Linear Speakers good? I want to buy a set of DD Linear 6.5'' speakers without tweeters for my gf. Just wondering how they compare to things like the focal 165k2's I use to have and top of the line JL's. HMB with any info! Even in comparison to Typre R and X would be useful info. Thanks Alpine SPR-60C 6.5" Type-R Component Car Speaker System was the sound so clear. I was accustomed to the stock speakers for awhile, but, when I heard these first hand connected to a 4 channel 400 watt amp, I was amazed on the clarity, the loudness, and the warm, bright sound. I can't wait to match these mids/highs to the 12" Type-R sub(s). You will definitely be wanting bass after listening to these without a sub/amp combo, since the crossovers take away the bass notes, although there is "punchy mid-bass". Infiniti . How to Remove Locknuts From Mags When the Key Is LostLocking lug nuts are indexed with a special adapter to remove and install them using a conventional socket. This adapter, called a key, is necessary to do this job safely and easily. If the adapter is lost or damaged, locating an exact replacement is often difficult and time consuming. To replace the adapter requires you to supply a code number to the manufacturer and then allow time for the manufacturer to ship the item. This is impractical if a tire is already flat. A workaround is using an extractor tool that is specifically manufactured to remove locking lug nuts. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Lug nut extractor Shop hammer 1/2-inch socket set Air compressor 1/2-inch impact gun Step by Step : 1 Fit a tapered extractor sleeve over the locking lug nut. Select a sleeve that fits snugly and insert the driver inside the sleeve. The driver looks like a punch. Use a shop hammer and hit the driver forcefully, seating the sleeve tightly onto the lug nut. The idea is to create a tight fit with the sleeve to grip the lug nut and prevent it from slipping during the extraction process. 2 Fit a 1/2-inch extension inside the sleeve and connect a 1/2-ratchet to the extension. Turn the ratchet to loosen the lock nut. If the lock nut is tightly held against the wheel, the sleeve will slip and come off. If this happens, refit the sleeve and use the hammer and driver to seat the sleeve once again. The sleeve is hardened steel and not likely to be damaged, so be aggressive with the hammer to drive the sleeve in place. 3 Use an impact gun that is powered by compressed air to remove locking nuts that are seized in place. Some manufacturers of extractor kits recommend using air as a means of extraction and discourage using hand tools.
Infiniti . How to Fit 18-Inch Rims on a 1992 MustangInstalling a larger set of alloy wheels on a 1992 Mustang is a common upgrade, particularly if the car has been modified with a performance suspension and more powerful engine. Larger wheels not only look better, they allow you to fit wider, low-profile tires for an increase in handling. When installing 18-inch wheels on a Fox-body Mustang (as this generation is referred to), the most important thing is ensuring that the tires are the right profile and will not rub on the bodywork. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Step by Step : 1 Find the wheels you want. There are many companies that sell wheels that will fit on a '92 Mustang. Once you have the wheels, have the proper tires installed on them by a professional tire shop. For example, if you are installing 18-by-8.5-inch wheels at front and 18-by-10-inch wheels at the back, you would want to use a 245/40-18 tire at the front and a 285/30-18 tire at the back. The profile of the tire will change, however, depending on the exact width of the wheel you are using. 2 Park the Mustang on a flat surface and set the emergency brake. Place the car in gear or in "Park" if it has an automatic gearbox. Loosen the lug nuts on the existing wheels with a lug wrench. 3 Lift the Mustang with a floor jack and lower it onto a jack stand. Repeat this process for the other three corners of the car until all four corners are supported by jack stands. Finish removing the lug nuts and the wheels. 4 Slide the new 18-inch wheels onto the hubs at all four corners. Thread on the lug nuts by hand and tighten them with the lug wrench. Spin the wheels around to make sure that they are not making contact with any of the brake or suspension components. 5 Lower the Mustang back to the ground by first lifting it with the floor jack and then sliding the jack stands out of the way. Lower the car to the ground. Finish tightening the lug nuts with a torque wrench to 85-105 ft-lbs. To keep your vehicle young and healthy, lubricate the parts that need it every 3,000 miles. Before you undertake any of the work in this chapter, be sure to review Chapter 11, which tells you all about the steering and suspension systems and describes the grease fittings, where most of the work is done. It's much easier to do a job when you understand what the parts you're working on do and how they relate to one another. . Chapter 16: Lubrication Extends the Life of Your Vehicle The Toots \!ou Need to Do a Lube Job Here's what you need to lubricate your vehicle: v0 A decent grease gun: Borrow one at first; if you hate the job, you won't have made a big investment. If you can't borrow one, buy a cheap one. You can always pass it on to a friend who's just getting into auto maintenance and then buy yourself a super one if you plan to do the job repeatedly. Most grease guns come with a couple of adapters to fit the grease fittings on your car and an extender for hard-to-reach places. If your gun doesn't have these, you can get an adapter or an extender for a couple of dollars if you need one. (You may not. Some grease guns are fitted to take grease cartridges, which save you the time and mess of loading them.) i> The proper kind of grease: The following sections explain what kind of grease you need for each type of job. Another way to find out is to consult your owner's manual, your service manual, or a salesperson at an auto supply store. They have manuals that tell all. Lubricating the Steering System Infiniti . What weighs 960000 ounces?
Nissan Pathfinder. * As Chapter 11 explains, every vehicle has ball joints and tie-rod ends that contain grease to protect the moving parts of the steering and suspension systems from rubbing against one another. Without this grease, the friction would cause the parts to wear away. On some vehicles, all or some of these grease fittings are designed for lifetime lubrication, which means that the grease is pumped in and sealed so that it can't get out. Because this kind of sealed system also prevents dirt, air, and water from getting in, these lifetime lubrication systems seem to last pretty well, and you don't have to lubricate them yourself, ever. Of course, if they break down, installing a whole new part is a bit more expensive, but they don't break down very often. If your owner's manual tells you that your vehicle has one of these systems, be happy, skip the rest of this section, and go on to "Lubricating the Suspension System." If your vehicle doesn't have lifetime lubrication, take a close look at the ball joints that are the scene of the action for most lube jobs. ^ar m ?/. 0 ^art'"' ^eeP'n9 ^our ^00(' Condition, System by System Anatomy of a bait joint Infiniti . The boot holds the grease, and the zerk fitting lets the grease into the boot and keeps it from getting out again. Figure 16-2: A tie-rod end zerk fitting. Figure 16-3: A zerk fitting on a ball joint. Most ball joints are sealed in the sense that the only place for the grease to go in and out of the joint is through the zerk fitting. If you fill this type of joint too full, the boot will burst and have to be replaced or lubricated more frequently. Other ball joints are designed to allow the grease to escape so that the new grease you insert pushes the old grease out the other end. Check under your vehicle to see which type of ball joints you have. If you aren't sure whether those gooey ball joints are sealed ones that have burst or the kind that are supposed to have a back door, your auto dealer can tell you. Infiniti . If they all tend to leak grease when you add more, they're probably supposed to do so. Some vehicles come with plugs on the ball joints instead of zerk fittings. You can replace the plugs with zerk fittings by unscrewing the plugs and screwing in the fittings. The fittings then become permanent fixtures on the ball joints, and you can throw the plugs away (or save them for a rainy day). Infiniti . Flasher unit clickingafter turns havebeen made?
